Activating Java 1.6 on Mac OS X

Mac OS X 10.5 uses Java 1.5 by default. The Java 6 implementation of Apple is currently only available for Intel-Macs with 64-bit-processor (Core'2'Duo and newer).
32-Bit-Core'Duo and PPC-Macs are not supported by Apple.
A port of the BSD-implementation of Java 6 is available for Mac OS X 10.5 and 10.4 on Intel macs (incl 32-Bit-Versions)
