Mac OS X 10.5 uses Java 1.5 by default. The Java 6 implementation of Apple is currently only available for Intel-Macs with 64-bit-processor (Core'2'Duo and newer). 32-Bit-Core'Duo and PPC-Macs are not supported by Apple.
