In this chapter basic concepts for the work with EMMA will be explained. Every user wanting to start out using EMMA should at least read this page. After reading this part you will know:

- How are these related to each other
- What is an Analysis Pipeline
- What is an Ontology
- What is Access Control good for
Before reading this, you should at least

- a basic capabilities in using your web-browser and dealing with web-based applications
